Stone walling projects need accurate volume estimates because natural stone is sold by weight or volume and prices vary significantly between stone types. Over-ordering is expensive; under-ordering delays the job and risks colour variation between batches. This calculator works out the volume of stone needed, converts it to tonnage using typical densities, and layers on labour and markup to give you a complete quotation figure. It is particularly useful for dry stone wallers, masons, and landscapers pricing work for clients. Confirm the supplier's actual bulk density and pack coverage because rubble, cropped walling stone and sawn ashlar behave differently. Add separate allowances for quoins, copings, lintels, delivery, telehandler time, mortar, backing blocks, waste and sorting. When turning the result into a quote, name the stone source, finish, bed depth and jointing method so the client can compare like for like.
