The Manual Handling Operations Regulations require hazardous manual handling to be avoided where reasonably practicable, what cannot be avoided to be suitably assessed, and the risk of injury to be reduced. The regulations do not set a universal safe lifting weight. This screen is a short prompt checklist, not the HSE Manual Handling Assessment Charts: it does not reproduce the MAC flow charts, load/frequency graphs, colour bands or assessment guides and cannot establish an overall risk level or satisfy the legal assessment duty by itself. Observe the real worst-case operation, consider the task, load, working environment and each worker's capability, consult the workforce and use the appropriate official HSE tool or a full assessment.
